"Gone away to do merit"  could be a short  trip with a group of a friends to a Wat (temple) to buy provisions for the monks and attend ceremonies.  It can be an afternoon out,  or a longer trip to a special wat somewhere.  Sort of a spiritual-holiday-social trip.  Perfectly ordinary thing for a Thai girl to do.   But there is no reason why that would involve being unavailable by cell phone, unless there is another version of dong merit that I am unfamiliar with.  Certainly could be the case.  I am far from an expert on this stuff!
 
or  . . . it could also just be a "nice" way of telling you to go jump in the lake.  But you didn't need me to point out that as a possibility.  Hope it's the first one.

I see Dr. Manop at KK RAM whose English is almost adequate.  Unfortunately, he is also very soft spoken.  He gets the job done, and is OK for now, but I do wish for more.

I understand that KK RAM no longer has a falang or English speaking administrator, which makes redress of problems difficult or impossible.  Too bad, because I understand that this is the most expensive joint in KKC.

Anyway, next time you are at KK RAM, ask for Johann,  English name, but Thai guy.  He is a nurse and his English is about 75% good.  I am sure he can point you to the most "falang friendly" GP.
