I am quite confused now especially about the outer town pricing, but like most i am very happy to have the choice and when wanting to take a long journey in the region i will call them up for a quote if i am happy with it then i shall book there service and thats the way business runs.
Comparing a london cab to a taxi in Issan is just ridiculous....but i do see your connection there Peter...A Taxi and a curry well thats the end of a good night out? yes?

seatimes Your information is appreciated. It might have gone over better with some if you had explained that the current charges were much higher.
Personally, I think the current prices in town are very good.

The prices are fantastic-often cheaper that a tuk-tuk. An especially good deal considering you are not exposed to heat, exhaust fumes or rain! I have heard it can take a while for the taxi to arrive from a few people, which suggests their business is doing quite well.

Actually there are 80 Taxis (from 2 different companies) in KKC. They seem to be always busy. If you want to order a taxi, you should call them at least 30 minutes in advance.
Here the telephone nr. of an English speaking driver: 080 763 3737 (Taxi Nr. 34)

Tuk tuks reacting to the new taxi reality?
(Excuse me if I've been blind, and this has been going on since before the taxi-meters arrived . . . )
I was out at Big C today, and noticed a sign where the tuk tuks stop, promoting various destinations around the city with quoted prices for going there by tuk tuk:
Is publicly quoting prices something new for these guys, maybe as a result of the taxi meters being here? They also look a little more reasonable than some quotes I got last year, though they are still clearly higher priced than a meter taxi, for an inferior ride.
